We believe in Privacy by Design. This calculator runs primarily Client-Side, meaning your specific build data rarely leaves your device unless necessary for analytics or sharing.
We categorize data into two types: System Data and Usage Data.
We use Local Storage (Client-Side) differently from Cookies (Server-Side). Here is exactly what we store:
| Key Name | Type | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| saved_builds | Local Storage | Stores your last 10 calculator configurations so you don't lose them. |
| theme_pref | Local Storage | Remembers if you prefer Dark or Light mode. |
| _ga | Cookie | Google Analytics anonymous session identifier. |
Local Data: Data in Local Storage remains on your device indefinitely until you manually clear your browser cache or delete the builds via our UI.
Server Logs: Access logs are rotated and permanently deleted every 30 days. Aggregated statistical data (non-identifiable) is kept indefinitely for historical hardware trend analysis.
We employ industry-standard protections:
Since Bottleneck Calculator operates as a Client-Side application without a central user database, we do not store your personal build history on our servers. You effectively hold your own data at all times.
Right to Access
Your data (Saved Builds) lives in your browser's Local Storage. You already possess full access to it at all times.
Right to Erasure
Simply Clear Browser Cache or click "Delete" on your saved builds. This instantly and permanently removes the data.
Right to Portability
Since we don't lock your data in a proprietary cloud format, you are free to copy your hardware specs from the interface at any time.
